Reporting an Incident

Created by Louis Cooksley, Modified on Thu, 2 Jul at 4:34 PM by Louis Cooksley

You can report a negative behaviour incident against a student directly from their profile. This records the event and can trigger automated follow-up actions such as detention rules, if configured by your school.

How to Report an Incident

  1. Navigate to Classroom from the left-hand navigation menu.

  1. Click the Students card.

  1. Search for the student by name using the search bar, then click their name to open their profile.

  1. Click the Behaviour tab on the student profile page.

  1. Click the Assign behaviour button. The Assign behaviour dialog opens.

  1. In the dialog, click Negative in the behaviour type toggle to switch to incident mode.

  1. Use the dropdown to select the incident category, such as Disruptive behaviour or Uniform violation. Your selected option will appear as a chip below the dropdown.

  1. Optionally, add a comment in the Comment field to describe the incident.

  1. Click Submit. The incident is saved and a confirmation toast appears. The dialog closes automatically.

After Saving

The incident appears in the student's Behaviour tab history. If your school has detention rules configured, saving a negative behaviour may automatically schedule a detention for the student.

?  The Submit button is disabled until you select at least one incident category. You must make a selection before the button becomes active.

Reporting an Incident from a Lesson Register

You can also report an incident directly from a lesson register. In Classroom → Lesson Attendance, open the lesson, click the three-dots menu (⋮) next to the student, choose to record a behaviour, switch to Negative, select the incident category, add a comment, and save.

Detention Rules

If your school has automatic detention rules set up, reporting a negative behaviour may trigger a detention to be created for the student. Whether a detention is created depends on the thresholds and rules configured by your school administrator.

?  To view or manage detention rules, go to System → School Settings → Behaviour. This requires admin-level access.
