From time to time you will need to mark a school closure on the school registers. Here is a quick guide on how you can do this on GroupEd.

(Bulk marking can also be used to mark an entire class on a school trip and add future dated attendance marks for pupils that are on holiday etc)

Once you have logged into GroupEd, click on the Activities section on the left-hand side of the screen. (If you have trouble logging in, please refer this FAQ)

Select the Attendance option.

Here you will see 3 headings.

  • Morning register
  • Afternoon register
  • Bulk attendance

Click on Bulk attendance

From here you will be able to select the students you would like to mark attendance for.

There are a few ways you can action this:

1. Individual pupils - You can search for pupils by first name or surname using the search box.

2. Classes – If you need to mark an entire class as absent due to a trip, all you need to do is add the class name or number into the search box and either tick the pupils that are absent or tick all for the whole class

Once you are happy with the pupils you’ve selected click on Mark Attendance

This will open up a pop up at the bottom of the page for you to complete the date, time and relevant attendance mark.

To amend the date of the attendance please click on the date following the Edit attendance for writing. This will open a screen where you can add the to and from dates, the sessions that apply to the absence and what code you would like to mark on the register.

If you would like any comments marked on the register these can also be added here.

Once you are happy with the information click Confirm

You will now see a confirmation of the marks you are changing along with a list of the pupils you’ve selected.

If you are happy to proceed, click Confirm once more and the register will update.

If you would like to change anything, click on Edit, amend the required information and once happy click Confirm, check the details again and Confirm once more to apply to the register.
